One Man Two Guvnors - by Richard Bear
Written by Richard Bear, written in the wonderful comedic style of Comedia del'arte. This is a comedy which mixes farce with melodrama and pantomime... Following the mixed fortunes of Francis Henshall who suddenly finds himself employed by two bosses. The first, Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood now in Brighton to claim money owed to him by his fiancee’s father, Charlie Clench. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who has been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers.
Holed up at the Cricketers Arms, the permanently hungry Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be reunited with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.
One Man Two Guvnors will be performed at the Swan Theatre, Yeovil from 2nd to 6th December 2025.
